Can't escape the Lee
We spent the Labour Day long weekend in NOLA only to run into guess what... another hurricane. Lee, that is.
What began as a speedy hurricane down south prompting the city to be declared a state of emergency got downgraded into a tropical storm just as it hit New Orleans. The storm proved to be relentless with gusty winds and heavy rainfall, adding to the already sombre mood as we drove through 9th ward, where Katrina ravaged and left thousands homeless.
Nonetheless, it was still a fun weekend with good local, albeit a tad unhealthy food (po'boys, gozilla, fried green tomatoes to name a few) and great company.
Now it seems like Lee is hot on our trail. Just as we thought Irene was behind us, we woke up this morning to yet another rainy day as Lee made its way to the northeast.
When will we see sunshine again?
PS: A separate holiday post and pics to follow :)
