Finally.

The month spent planning the big 3-0 for the boyfriend is coming into fruition. Last night, we had a scrumptious dinner at the acclaimed Toro Restaurant. With all the rave reviews, I thought it would be the perfect venue for the surprise. As with any popular dining venue, the wait was long but not painful. We were seated in one of the long high stool tables in the middle of the restaurant which was perfect for the 6 of us. The decor was Spanish with a contemporary twist. My favourite part was the toro above the fire place. We placed our orders almost immediately and before long, the food came fast and furious. The must-have has definitely got to be Maíz Asado con Alioli y Queso Cotija - grilled corn with alioli, lime, espelette pepper and aged cheese! Creamy and delicious, we sat silent for about 5 minutes whilst chomping down the delicious corn. There was no debate that Toro's version is waaaay yummier than Cafe Havana in NYC. The paella, although a little too salty for our liking, was moist and cooked with fresh seafood. To end the night, I ordered a Triple Mousse chocolate cake from South End's famous chocolaterie, Aora. The chocolate was lovely and decadent and just the right amount of sweetness to end the perfect meal. Everyone loved it, especially the birthday boy which made it all well worth the effort! :)
