Caramelized onions
Polish sausage
BBQ sauce
Tomato puree
Slivers of avocado
Rosemary
That was all it took for our kiiiccckkassss pizza last night! The first time we made it, there were potatoes too. However, for our 2nd attempt time we decided to keep it simple (less carbs too) and made a few variations - adding tomato puree to the BBQ sauce for a moist(er) base. The caramelised onions were sweeter this time and really added just that touch of sugary and burnt texture to the pizza. There was no mozzarella so cheddar was used in its place.
FYI. I added about 3/4 of a block of cheddar to the pizza and look where it's disappeared?! So let's not even try to imagine the sheeeeer amount of cheese pizza palours use for that hmm extra cheeeesy, extra long cheese pull.. Hmm.
The BF prides himself as a bit of a pizza expert (haha) and took charge of rolling out the pizza dough (with a wine bottle no less!) - unfortunately the dough was not made from scratch. We cheated and got it from Philsbury, which isn't exactly the best as it kinda had that 'processed' feel to it, if you know what I mean. But. I just learnt that Flour makes pizza dough! So that's where we'll be getting our gourmet pizza dough next! The BF loves avocadoes hence that was also added in the mix. For this round, it was baked together with the pizza instead of adding it only at serving time.
And how can I forget? The winning touch has gotta be the pizza stone that Lucy gave us for Christmas! The idea of a pizza stone is to distribute the heat evenly accross the pizza base and secondly, to extract the moisture, so that your pizza dough is crispy. It was SO good and made our yummy pizza all the more yummier :D
Now, how much do you think each slice could go for?
$5? :P Priceless!
