5 straight days

of rain has made the Box our bestie. Summer TV isn't conducive for rainy days (or homebodies). So when we found something that was remotely interesting, we latched onto it like babies to breast milk. And Canada's Home and Garden Television Channel (Geez. How quintessentially Hallmark is that!) saves the day with hours on end of "Bang for Your Buck" and "The Unsellables". Both programs spotlight real estate in the market by featuring home make-overs in varying degrees. In Bang, home designers and real estate experts discuss the best and worst in remodeling investments and home staging, whilst the latter transforms unsightly and unsellable properties from cluttered homes, to dated decor and messy interiors into real estate gems. For the entire weekend, we glued ourselves to the Box watching house after house tear apart - verbally and physically, as the experts dish out their no-nos, best advice, recommendations and what-nots. For us, it was also interesting to move beyond the exterior of the walls (and afforded a more realistic POV than MTV's Cribs!), and see the shitty and gaudy furnishings Americans like to spend their money on. Lol. And to put it in perspective, with the same money on a HDB flat in Singapore, you can get a house with a HUGE backyard and front lawn PLUS garage for 2 cars here. (Here: not meaning Boston Proper, but in the 'burbs, yeah)
