4 July Weekend

The weekend was sunny relaxing comforting and just a right balance of chillaxing and getting things done around the house. We checked off almost everything we'd planned for the long weekend and I'm happy to report we are on schedule. Well, ish.

Yes, everything runs on a certain type of schedule in this house. (I see the hubs rolling his eyes now) Haha.

Friday I snuck off work at 2pm and we rode 80 blocks uptown to check out the long awaited Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty. The exhibition showcases McQueen's most outrageous work, his narrative runway shows, romantic styles and most of all his (almost excruciating) attention to detail. To walk through the exhibition in awe of every piece McQueen has created is truly mind blowing and even attempting to understand his thought process is futile, because this man is truly a work of art.

We ended the evening with a picnic in Central Park :) and back 80ish blocks home.

Saturday was fairly low key all day with gym/ brunch then sunset with Fatboy Slim on Governor's Island, kicking off our music festival season this summer. The weather was purrrfect - breezy yet sunny, music was fab but can't say the same for the bridge n' tunnel crowd.

Rain came on Sunday so we stayed in for most of the day, only leaving the apartment only for brunch and dinner.

We celebrated 4 July today with a ride to the Hudson checking out the crowd as they gear up for fireworks. Housework around the flat whilst trying to keep cool at the same time, and that rounds up our weekend!

Hope yours was as fab as ours xoxo

PS: Now to Tuesday blues.. >(

PPS: Btw - my mum turned 60th about a week and a half ago and whilst I forgot (!!) to dedicate a post to her (not that she knows this blog even exists) I wanted to document it anyway. Happy (belated) 60th Mum! xoxo
